The automobile industry is undergoing a major transformation due to increasing environmental concerns, rising fuel prices, and the growing need for sustainable transportation solutions. Electric vehicles (EVs) have emerged as an eco-friendly alternative to conventional petrol and diesel vehicles, offering reduced emissions and lower operating costs. This study focuses on analyzing consumer buying behavior towards electric vehicles with special reference to Coimbatore city. The research aims to understand consumer awareness, factors influencing purchase decisions, satisfaction levels, and challenges faced while adopting electric vehicles. The study is based on primary data collected through structured questionnaires from electric vehicle consumers and is supported by secondary data from journals, websites, and related research studies. Statistical tools were used for analysing the data. The findings reveal that factors such as price, charging infrastructure, brand preference, government incentives, and environmental awareness significantly influence consumer buying behavior. At the same time, challenges such as high initial cost, limited charging facilities, and range anxiety affect purchase decisions. The study concludes that improving awareness, infrastructure development, and supportive policies can enhance electric vehicle adoption and contribute towards sustainable mobility in Coimbatore city.
