IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON RAINFALL VARIABILITY IN NANDYAL DISTRICT, RAYALASEEMA REGION, ANDHRA PRADESH

Abstract

Water is a fundamental resource for persons globally, portion critical function across various sectors, including agriculture, industry and domestic applications, with no viable alternatives available. The research the effects of climate change on rainfall variability within Nandyal District, Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh for the period across 2013-14 to 2022-23. Given the district's dependence on agriculture and water resources, an understanding of rainfall patterns is vital for local communities. Secondary data sourced from the handbooks of the Director of Economics and Statistics and the Chief Planning Officer was utilized to analyze rainfall distribution at the mandal level are compare actual rainfall measurements against reputable normal values. The analysis reveals considerable fluctuations in rainfall across different mandals have certain years exhibiting extreme surpluses while others encounter significant deficits. For example, Atmakur mandal recorded a maximum of 1654.5 mm in 2021-22, whereas Nandikotkur experienced a minimum of 290.8 mm in 2016-17. The variability highlights the challenges introduced by climate change are adversely affects agricultural productivity and water organization practices. The study underscores the necessity for adaptive strategies, including better water conservation methods and crop diversification to improve the repercussion of incoherent rainfall patterns. Continuous monitoring of rainfall trends is deemed necessary for realize the implications of climate variability on local ecosystems and food security. The research offers valuable near for policy makers and stakeholders stress the significance of developing resilient agricultural practices to reinforce the district are capacity to adapt to climate change.
