Decolonisation of Intersectionality and Indigenisation of Social Work in Indian Context

This research study will focus on the vitality of intersectionality oriented towards western pedagogy and epistemology needs decolonisation of Social Work Education and practice in India, in accordance with India's historical and social roots. This is a narrative review which includes secondary methods of data collection comprising previous research studies, journals and books. The research study will also draw its orientation towards the idea of intersectionality, cosmopolitan view of intersectionality and Indian perspective of intersectionality. This study will take forward the perspective of Intersectionality in context of Indian Social Work Profession. Decolonial approaches characterizing Dalit and Tribal Social Work are also talked about. This study will also emphasize how feminist theories can lead towards providing a framework regarding exploring patriarchy in institutions. One of the crucial agendas will be to discuss why decolonisation of intersectionality in Indian context is needed and how the European pedagogy of Social Work is inefficient to tackle the social problems related to marginalisation. The applicability of intersectionality in India does not have contextual apprehension. This study will also offer some solutions regarding how indigenous issues like religion and caste can be addressed with the proper usage of intersectionality in Indian context. Framework of Social Work education as transformative praxis is needed. Academic ventures featuring intergenerational, community affiliated and experiences which are lived should be given importance.
