Relative and Specific Viscosity Studies of L-Serine- and L-Isoleucine in Aqueous NaCl / NaNO3 Systems
L-serine, L-isoleucine, ternary systems, relative viscosity, specific viscosity and intrinsic viscosity.
The viscosity coefficient or simply the viscosity of a liquid, a measure of transfer of linear momentum down a velocity gradient, depends on the spacing between imaginary layers of the liquid and on the intermolecular / interionic forces operative in it.
Consequently, in this chapter of study, the viscosities of ternary systems, (amino acids / di-peptide + salt +water): L-serine / L-isoleucine + 1.5 M NaCl / NaNO3 +water have been measured as functions of concentration of amino acids / di-peptide and temperature. The measured data have been used to compute the relative viscosity, specific viscosity and β-coefficients for the said systems. The results have been discussed in the light of solute-solute and solute-solvent interactions and structural effects of solute in solutions.
