ASSESSMENT OF CHRONIC PLANTAR HEEL PAIN AMONG SALON PROFESSIONALS
Key words: Windlass test and the Visual Analog Scale, BMI, work duration, and daily standing hours.
Background:
Salon staff professionals are at high risk for musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) due to occupational demands that include prolonged standing, repetitive movements, and awkward postures. Among these, chronic plantar heel pain—most caused by plantar fasciitis—is a significant concern, as these professionals often stand for 8–12 hours daily on hard salon floors.
Objective:
This study aims to assess the prevalence of chronic plantar heel pain among salon professionals and identify key occupational and demographic risk factors among salon worker by using windlass test
Methodology:
Recent cross-sectional studies on this demographic have utilised. Participants: Sample sizes typically ranging from 45 male salon staff. Clinical diagnosis often relies on the Windlass test and the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for pain intensity. Data Collection: and the correlation will be done.
Conclusion: There is a high prevalence of plantar fasciitis among saloon staff, influenced by age, BMI, work duration, and daily standing hours. Targeted interventions are needed to mitigate these risks.
