CUSTOMER SATISFACTION TOWARDS COSMETIC PRODUCTS IN TIRUCHRAPPALLI CITY

ABSTRACT
The cosmetic industry has witnessed rapid growth in India, driven by rising disposable incomes, changing lifestyles, and increasing awareness of personal grooming. This study investigates customer satisfaction towards cosmetic products in Tiruchirappalli city, focusing on factors such as product quality, brand image, price, availability, and promotional strategies. A descriptive research design was adopted, and data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to a sample of consumers across different age groups and socio economic backgrounds. Statistical tools such as percentage analysis and chi square tests were employed to interpret the findings. The results indicate that product quality and brand reputation are the most significant determinants of customer satisfaction, while affordability and accessibility also play crucial roles. Younger consumers show a stronger preference for international brands, whereas middle aged groups emphasize value for money and safety of ingredients. The study highlights that effective advertising and word of mouth recommendations substantially influence purchasing decisions. This research contributes to understanding consumer behavior in a tier II city context and provides insights for cosmetic companies to tailor their marketing strategies. Enhancing product transparency, maintaining consistent quality, and offering competitive pricing are recommended to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty in Tiruchirappalli’s growing cosmetic market.
