Oral cancer is highly prevalent in India, especially among males, and ranks sixth globally. It is linked to tobacco use (smoked and smokeless), alcohol, poor oral hygiene, and HPV infection. In India, cultural habits like gutkha and paan chewing worsen the burden. Despite the importance of early detection, public awareness remains low, particularly among youth. Nursing students, as future health educators, play a key role in prevention and early intervention. Enhancing their knowledge through video-assisted learning can improve public health outcomes. Materials and methods: A quasi experimental one-group pretest post-test design was used for the study. A total of 100 B.Sc. Nursing students were selected through non-probability purposive sampling at NRI College of Nursing,Andhra Pradesh. A structured knowledge questionnaire with 30 multiple-choice questions was administered to assess knowledge on oral cancer. After the pretest, participants were given a video- assisted teaching programme. The post test was conducted after 5 days using the same questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean, percentage, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (paired t-test and Chi-square test). Results: Majority (85%) of the students had poor knowledge (≤50% score), while 15% demonstrated fair knowledge (50-75% score), and none of them had good knowledge (≥ 75% score) regarding oral cancer and its prevention. The mean pretest knowledge score was 12.44 ± 3.37, and the mean post-test score was 22.19 ± 2.37, showing a significant improvementin knowledge following the video-assisted teaching programme. Statistically significant association was observed between religion (χ² = 0.284) and residence (χ² = 2.94).However, no significant association was found between knowledge scores and age (χ² = 0.178),gender (χ² = 1.535), and source of information (χ² = 3.18). Conclusion: The findings suggest that video-assisted teaching is an effective and interactive strategy for enhancing knowledge among nursing students on critical public health issues such as oral cancer. Integration of such technology- driven approaches into the nursing curriculum can empower students to become knowledgeable advocates for cancer prevention and community education.
