Democratic Socialism of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar:
Democratic Socialism and Social Consciousness.
Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s ideas and principles have always been relevant to Indian politics. In fact, he supported a political system in which the state provides equal political opportunities to all and does not discriminate on the basis of religion, caste, color, or gender. Babasaheb Ambedkar believed that the main reason for India’s backwardness is the delay in changing the land system. The solution to this is democratic socialism, which would increase economic efficiency and productivity and make transformation of the rural economy possible. In reality, without social consciousness, democracy becomes soulless. In such a situation, until social democracy is established, the development of social consciousness is also not possible. Dr. Ambedkar also accepted democracy as a way of life; emphasizing the superiority of the individual, he considered change of power as a means. He used to say that merely granting some constitutional rights does not make the foundation of democracy strong. In his vision of a democratic system, “morality” and “sociality” were two major values, whose relevance has increased in the present time.
