Pedagogical Ecosystems and Classroom Environments: A Comparative Study regarding students’ learning outcomes and engagement between the Private and Government-Aided Schools of India
KEYWORDS: Pedagogical Ecosystem, Classroom Environment, Private Schools, Government-aided Schools, Teacher-Student ratio, Educational Equity, School Infrastructure, Educational Policy.
This study explores the pedagogical ecosystems within classroom environments of private and government-aided schools in India through a comparative, secondary data-based approach. The research investigates key variables such as infrastructure, student-teacher ratios, instructional tools, and the integration of technology, drawing data from national education databases (UDISE+, ASER, NAS), academic literature, and policy reports. Findings reveal stark contrasts in classroom conditions between the two school types, with private schools demonstrating stronger performance in infrastructure and digital readiness, while government-aided schools lead in inclusivity and access. The study underscores the direct correlation between classroom environment and student outcomes, shaped by economic disparities, funding structures, and administrative autonomy. The role of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is also examined as a transformative framework with the potential to bridge these systemic gaps. Recommendations include increased government investment in infrastructure, enhanced teacher training across sectors, promotion of public-private partnerships, and ecosystem-focused implementation of NEP 2020. Despite the limitations of relying solely on secondary data, the study offers actionable insights for policymakers, educators, and researchers seeking to create equitable and effective classroom environments in diverse educational contexts.
