Economic development, Employment, Demographic analysis, Trade competitiveness, Development economics
India and China represent the world's two largest developing economies, collectively accounting for 37% of global population and 22% of world gross domestic product (GDP). This research paper provides a comprehensive comparative analysis of these nations' development trajectories since economic liberalization (China in 1978, India in 1991). The study synthesizes data from major international organizations including the World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), United Nations (UN), and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) to examine macroeconomic performance, trade competitiveness and demographic structures trends. Key findings reveal that while China maintains a larger economy $18.7 trillion as compare to $4.0 trillion. India is experiencing faster economic growth than China. The disparity in demographics is especially noticeable. China faces workforce decline and population aging, while India benefits from a young demographic structure and expanding workforce. The analysis demonstrates that India possesses a 30-year demographic advantage, while China maintains technological superiority reflected in export composition and research and development spending. These findings have implications for future economic sustainability, employment creation, and global economic dynamics
